Life Coaching FAQs
Kudos for taking the initiative to work with a coach on your life aspirations. This is a huge step in the right direction and not an easy or cheap endeavor. And now you’re doing your research on coaches as well as reading a bit on what to expect. In order to help you, I have provided answers below to the most common questions I receive. Please do not hesitate to contact me, if you have additional questions.
I see life coaching as a creative partnership designed to help bring about meaningful transformation for clients based on priorities they identify in their lives. According to the International Coaching Federation, life coaching is about partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal potential. Most life [tweet_dis]coaching clients are healthy, successful people who might be a bit stuck or simply want to make a big change in their lives and want the support of their own personal coach to do so[/tweet_dis].
[tweet_dis]I believing in respecting each client’s need to become their fully-expressed self while helping them identify priorities and create balance in their lives[/tweet_dis]. As your coach I will: commit to your success, be there to have faith in you even if you don’t have it in yourself, be a hand to hold or a shoulder to cry on if you need it, respond free to emails between sessions to keep you supported, supply an absolutely confidential service, offer non-judgmental support throughout your coaching sessions, be there to think of different ways of helping you, encourage and stimulate you along the way, provide the time, space and support to explore every aspect of your personal or business needs.
Your part is to be committed to sessions by showing up on time, putting in the time and energy required to help to reach your goal. Only you can make these changes; I will support and guide you throughout your journey
With options such as Skype and the telephone, I provide remote individual life coaching services to clients all over the continental United States. Remote coaching is a preference for many clients whether or not they are local to me. My office is based out of the beautiful South Padre Island area of south Texas (Brownsville, Harlingen, McAllen, Port Isabel, Los Fresnos).
Firstly, after we have had a free initial (brief 20 minute) consultation, I will always recommend a 90-minute discovery session; these can be done by phone or on Skype. I do like to meet you face-to-face wherever possible, but since clients are mostly located throughout the country, we most often connect remotely. Those first 90 minutes allow us to connect and build a plan of action that will take you forward to a really positive life. From then, coaching sessions can be taken in blocks of 45 minutes to an hour.
I typically strongly recommend a 3-session commitment when we start. This is the minimum required to not only plan for and make change, but to begin seeing the results of your action plan. New habits (or any change) requires time, practice, and patience. Most clients sign up for a 3-month (3- session) package then move forward with additional 3-month packages or move on to coaching month-to-month. We normally discuss this at your first meeting. I have worked with a few clients who only require an hour or two, but most require more sessions. I review your progress every 3 sessions to check that we are still working towards your goal, or if it needs to be changed a little.
I am a certified life coach by the International Coach Federation. ICF is the sole accreditation institution for life coaches. There are many life coaches who are practicing without training or certification. I decided to train and become certified so that I could be fully qualified to help my clients.
My personal belief is that making a financial investment in advance of your sessions shows your level of commitment to your goals and the work required to reach them. With a package you can pay for three months or six months at a time.
